and when it is not quite as Christian point of view, they murdered martyrs were indeed the ancestors of the people, some of which this day in this area live ...
excerpt from the sermon of Rev. Hartmut Hegeler to
memorial service for victims of the witch trials at
second Ecumenical Church in Munich, May 2010
"In the midst of 100 000 Christians in the Orthodox Church in Munich, we confess:
They were no witches, but they are our sisters and brothers.
- you have been persecuted innocent. They belong to the communion of saints.
- your name has been trampled their bodies bruised, burned their bodies, their ashes scattered to the winds.
- They were executed. God wants to raise.
- why we destroy their memory from the dirt of the ashes.
- why we put them back on in our Christian center.
- why we confess that their hearts live forever. (Psalm 22, 27)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard
our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Amen. "
What this sermon so unique is the fact that, for example, a part of the letter of Mayor John Junius was read.
to the memory of the "Bamberger witches victim" is thus not intended at the place where their lives and suffering, but in the City of Munich - has, and unfortunately, it is then also the "false church" (for the Protestant Church in Bamberg anyone to tortured death) they are the ungrateful has prescribed task of refurbishing.
That it would also be different, the following shows the current case of a Catholic archbishop:
opinion by Archbishop Dr. Alois Kothgasser to trial on the "witch" from Mühldorf 1749/50
SALZBURG (eds - wk / 18 6, 2009) / For today's press conference in the office of Governor-Chairman Dr. Wilfried Haslauer on The Mühldorfer Hex "is following Statement the Archbishop of Salzburg, Dr. Alois Kothgasser Published:
- The judicial murder of Maria Pauer, has been convicted in the last process of this kind on the floor of the former Archbishopric Salzburg as "witch", represents a terrible crime, in which the Church of that time intertwined not only because of the characters is inside. There is nothing to gloss over it, but to face the inhuman historical reality and to ask God and the people for forgiveness for this atrocity.
Another task is to draw a lesson from it and to assume the responsibility for the people of our day, so that their dignity as God's image all due Attention belongs.
- The background to this terrible event is a magical God and man, on the biblical-Christian tradition is not justifiable, but has pagan roots. This task is connected to yet more for the proclamation of the Christian God and the human image to use and expend all the theological effort, so that faith in God is kept free of irrational and inhuman elements.
- Our entire operation has now the realization of human rights and - as a basis - are due administration of justice, not only in our country, but worldwide. This is to recognize teaching of the Church and its social doctrine: "The church feels itself wounded when the rights of man, whoever it is and wherever he may find to be violated and hurt." [1]
