Stupawahlen from 17.05. - 20.05. SDS Mainz
The Socialist Democratic Student Association The SDS Mainz fighting for a democratic and inclusive university that is capable of the prevailing conditions flex critically re and to find together with social movements solutions to societal problems . At the university, we fight for the interests of the students (the Bologna reform programs, study fees, prevention of tuition fees, provision of adequate teaching materials, etc.). These are related with the struggle of the wage - against the owners of capital and to improve Share of social wealth. We are consistent in building a socialist society that puts the needs of the people at the center.
Our goals at the University of Mainz are free, free, universal education, critical, emancipatory science. Necessary for the establishment of another education system. The
unreasonable underfunding of our universities is a consequence of decades of failed education policies. To provide sufficient funding for the education available to large corporations and the wealthy should be taxed more strongly. To all those interested in the study equally and without much effort, the possibility to offer to participate in scientific discourse, we commit ourselves to a study fee.
Our university policy demands include strengthening the capacities of study space, unrestricted access to the master, the abolition of the numerus clausus, the Decommercialising of the campus, widespread promotion instead elite education, abolition of tuition fees and funding critical science.
We therefore support the student strike, the democratic influence on the direction of the university, which also means the introduction of the third parity, henceforth enhancing the academic committees and the abolition of the University Council, and the relocation the costs of training away from the individual students, through to the future users of their work force, the owners of social wealth. We require all students to stand up to join us for social improvements and offer them a platform to political commitment to their interests. However, this can not happen in the form that the interests of the students are seen as special interests and be realized at the expense of wage earners.
Since the last legislative period, we take our demands into the student self-government (and student parliament AStA) into it. This includes the perception of a political mandate for the Written Student body and a strong representation at state and national level and cooperation with social movements such as trade unions, tenants' initiatives etc.
this work, we want to continue in the coming legislative and demand in addition, the stronger theming of social inequality in higher education and in the city and push for the establishment of the Unit in the student council. Student interests must also be articulated more clearly and louder. Especially with regard to the excessive rents in Mainz, demands action - with the fundamental right to housing, these are definitely not compatible.
for work in elementary bodies is just an awareness of democracy, which is beyond "proxy policy" - it is about strong linkages to the base, the strengthening of self-organization and create a unique and imperative mandate.
